It occurs to me that many will not have much idea what the aircraft in the story looked like. You can Search for them by putting the name of the 'plane in the Search blank on your computer.

P-47 Thunderbolt or B-25 Mitchell bomber should work fine, as will Spitfire fighter, etc.

For the enemy, "Japanese Tony fighter" may work, or you may need to type the offical name instead of the Allied codename: Kawasaki Hein Ki-61 fighter.

Progress: I've figured out how to have the mystery RAF officer appear, and how to have him announce his parents. You'll see him soon, but he won't expound on his ancestry until later. But, fans of my other Fics and of TLW will guess his identity.

Those also reading, "Challenger's Birthday" on MK2's board will have the cliffhanger question from that Fic answered here, before I ever write a Plateau Fic covering it.

Aren't you already excited?

I just finished reading the installment, Explorer. It was really good. A lot of detail. You can always tell it's you when the story goes into detail like that.

Picture of Thunderbolts. I'll try to find more.

Here's a formation of the earlier "razorback" form of the P-47, like the one in which Howard was shot down over France.:

Here is a GOOD photo. Click on pix for larger size.:

So far, so good. I love it. A lot of detail, as usual. Just curious and I'm taking a long shot here, but was Princess Diana any inspiration for Lady Diana? Or am I reading too much into it?

Caroline-

You're reading too much into it. They don't even look alike. Lady Diana Hamilton looks more like a young Princess Caroline of Monaco. Have you seen pictures of her in her 20's?

Maybe Kate Beckinsale? That sort...Sophisticated, chestnut brown hair...

I've been thinking this story through, and think that Arthur's sister, Lady Caroline Challenger, may show up to compete for Howard's affections, or just to sell copies of their mother's books and do a movie show of jungle adventure filmed by their parents after they got off the Plateau and went on other expeditions. The goal would be to raise funds for the war. It will emerge that Arthur flies a Spitfire he's named "Finn's Fancy", after his mother, who raised the funds to buy some fighters. But I think Finn herself (Baroness Challenger) won't be in Burma, staying home with George, who is 77 and not up to traveling much. It will probably develop that Arthur's revolver is the same make and model that is his mother's favorite. I posted a photo of it on the Official site, here (in General) and on MK2's boards. Did you see it?

I'm still struggling with whether Caroline and Diana squabble over Tom Howard. Arthur may be looking forward to a Dutch treat, probably Astrid. We'll just have to see how this works out.

Oh: far from being inspired by Princess Diana, Lady Diana Hamilton was inspired by Diana, Goddess of the Hunt.
